Minimum rates of pay in certain modern awards increase from 1 November

Pay Schedules for Group 2 Awards are now updated with rates effective from 1 November 2020. You can access them via our Resources page

Employers covered by a Group 2 modern award should review their current pay arrangements to ensure that, from the first full pay period on or after 1 November 2020, any employees covered by a Group 2 modern award are paid in accordance with the new minimum rates of pay in respect of the employee’s classification under the modern award. This also includes casual loading and other loadings, penalties, allowances or overtime which are calculated by reference to the modern award minimum rates of pay.

Group 2 Awards include:

  • Clerks Private Sector Award 2020
  • Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award 2020
  • Higher Education Industry – General Staff – Award 2020
  • Journalists Published Media Award 2020
  • Labour Market Assistance Industry Award 2020
  • Miscellaneous Award 2020

On 19 June 2020, the Fair Work Commission published their Annual Wage Review decision, increasing award minimum wages by 1.75%. The operative date of this increase, however, varied depending on the industry and is determined by the award group – Group 1, Group 2, or Group 3.

Rates for Group 1 Awards increased from 1 July 2020. Pay Schedules for these Awards were updated and made available on our website at the time.

Rates for Group 2 Awards increased from 1 November 2020. Pay Schedules for these Awards have been updated and are now available via our Resources page.

Rates for Group 3 Awards will increase from 1 February 2021 and accordingly, Pay Schedules on our website for these awards remain current. Updated Pay Schedules will be released nearer to the operative date of the increase.
