How well do you know the National Employment Standards?

We advised members at the end of last year that the Fair Work Ombudsman has released an updated Fair Work Information Statement. The statement, which details important information about pay and minimum employment entitlements contained in the National Employment Standards (NES) must be given to all new employees.

The NES are the ten legislated minimum employment entitlements that define maximum weekly hours, leave and termination entitlements. They apply to all employees covered by the national workplace relations systems, including highly paid employees, although only certain entitlements apply to casual employees.

To ensure compliance, it is essential for employers to understand the NES when managing employees’ hours of work and determining entitlements to various types of leave. For the complete list of conditions, you can view and download the Fair Work Information Statement.

If you would like to discuss how the NES applies to your workplace and employees, contact our Employment Relations Specialists at (02) 9390 5255 or email enquiry@ccer.catholic.org.au.
