CCER explores those difficult workplace conversations

CCER today welcomed special guest speakers to present two new training sessions on key workplace topics.

The first, Narayan van de Graaff, Managing Director from Advanced HR Solutions, presented on Difficult Conversations in the Workplace, providing a range of practical tips on how to ensure an ‘avoidance culture’ does not dominate your workplace.

Participants were provided with hints on how to be ’empassertive’ (empathetic and assertive), key ingredients for providing constructive feedback and practice in discussing those sensitive topics such as staff work performance or behavioural issues.

The second session, presented by Leonard Lozina, Partner at DibbsBarker, provided attendees with a better understanding of the legal framework regarding privacy in employment and what your rights and responsibilities as an employer are.

The session explored issues such as using social networking sites to obtain information on prospective or current employees, the rights of an employer to obtain information from another employer about an employee engaged by both organisations, and employers’ obligations to disclose information on an employee’s personal file to that employee.

Social Services members get social!

The training sessions rounded off a fantastic week of networking which also included our HR/ER Practitioners’ Networking session for clients from the Social Services sector.

Attendees were provided with an IR/ER and Case Law update, as well as presentations on Online Reward and Recognition Programs from Patrick Mahon from Power to Motivate and Jill Paul from Catholic Healthcare.

Our Networking Groups are a fantastic opportunity for professional development as well as a forum for members to share information on operational HR/ER matters.
